Tim Tebow - Will someone give him a chance?

What is wrong with this man? What has he done wrong that no NFL wants him? There's been a lot of talk about Tim Tebow. He's a polarizing figure because of his faith and because of the skills he seems to lack to play as a starting QB in the NFL.

Let's ignore his faith because it shouldn't make a difference. Its his skills as a player and especially at the position of quarterback that has been under the microscope. The first thing we know is that his mechanics (throwing motion, footwork, etc) is awful. Some say that it has improved with some additional coaching, but still, no one will give him a shot.

We all know what he has done in college. If you don't, here are his accomplishments. He's won the Heisman in 2007 and the BCS National Championship in 2008. His final year at Florida, he lead his team to a 13-1 record.

He finished his college career with over 9,000+ yards passing, 2900+ yards rushing, and 145 total TDs.

So what has he done on the pro level? After being drafted by the Denver Broncos, he started three games in his rookie year and came away with a 1-2 record. The team went 4-12 that same year so he was responsible for a quarter of their wins.

The following year, he took over a team that went 1-5 before their bye week led by Kyle Orton. What happened after that bye week? He lead the team to a 7-4 record and a wild card win vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.

What did the Executive Vice President of football operations, John Elway, do after that great season? He traded Tebow to the NY Jets. Elway couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Granted, he replaced Tebow with Peyton Manning, but his eagerness to rid himself of a popular player that led a team to the playoffs should be shameful.

I won't even get into how the NY Jets misused Tebow throughout the 2012 season. The Jets are a mess and how Rex Ryan still has a job is beyond me.

The Jets finally released Tebow after the NFL draft. Some write that was the last kick in the ass and insult to Tebow. Why? Because at this point, all the NFL teams have their drafted players and free agents in their training camps, leaving Tebow out in the cold.

So what happens now? Tebow is looking for a job. He's done nothing wrong in his pro career and everything right. He hasn't been arrested for drugs, drinking and driving, or beating his girlfriend/wife. I can't say that for other NFL players.

Here's hoping someone gives him a chance in the NFL at the QB position and show all his doubters and critics what they passed up.
